Skin care first steps

A skin care routine often requires patience and consistency as results are not immediately visible. Sticking to a routine over a period of 4-6 weeks can help see the long-term benefits of skin care products and gradually brighten the skin. It's important to understand that skin needs time to respond to products and changes, so consistency is a key factor for success. Paired with healthy eating and the right product selection, these habits can help promote healthy and glowing skin.

On the subject of skin type - please read my blog post - different skin types - beforehand.

What are my skin needs and how can I best support my skin?" It's crucial to ask yourself this question in order to choose the right products and care methods.

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO CHANGE or IMPROVE??

More glow? Smaller pores? Pimples?

  1. Sourcing the right products: Choose the skin care products that are tailored to your skin type and condition.

  2. Patch test: Perform a patch test by applying the product to a small area of skin, usually on the wrist or behind the ear. Observe whether reactions such as redness, itching, or burning occur within 24 hours.

  3. Long-term use: If the patch test shows no negative reactions, you can add the product to your daily skin care routine and use it for at least 4-6 weeks.

  4. Monitor tolerance: Pay attention to any changes in your skin during this time. A temporary mild burning sensation can be a normal reaction to new products, but persistent symptoms such as redness, itching, or severe irritation should be taken seriously.

Skin care should always be tailored to your individual needs, and testing products for tolerance is an important step in ensuring you get the best possible results without damaging the skin.

These are the first steps of a skin care routine:

1st step: cleaning

In the evening: definitely- to remove all the ''dirt''

In the morning: as needed, for oily skin yes, for sensitive skin no.

When cleaning, it is important not to overdo it so that the skin's natural protective barrier is preserved. Look at your skin, you will see what it needs.

Step 2: Toner

In the mornings and the evenings

You can use it, but you don't have to. A toner has the function of restoring your skin to its natural pH value of approx. 5.5 after cleansing and better preparing your skin for the subsequent care. Of course, depending on the choice, toners contain other ingredients that can help you with your problem.

3rd step: care

In the mornings and the evenings

The use of day and night care can be particularly effective as it optimally supports the skin throughout the day and night. Day care offers protection from environmental influences, while night care promotes skin regeneration and repair while you sleep.

You can either use 24-hour care or day and night care. I personally find day and night care to be the most effective, as the skin is optimally supported day and night.

After care (in the morning) you can use sunscreen if your day cream doesn't contain it. My opinion on sun protection is a bit mixed.

If you have skin diseases such as rosacea, neurodermatitis or acne, you should definitely consult a doctor and not experiment yourself.

Of course, there are other steps, like serums, eye care, masks, peels and devices. If you are a newbie, the above steps are enough.

Here are a few products*/sites* that I think are great.

Face theory
La Roche-Posay
Transparent Lab
The products from Balea sensitiv and med are also great.

I wish you much success trying it out!
